Burlington
Amateur Radio Club Organization
In October 1972, a committee of local HAMS
, led by Roy Higgins, VE3GBZ, (SK), and Bob Fugard, VE3DUF sent a letter to all
known amateur radio operators in the Town of Burlington, inviting them to attend
a special meeting that would be the initial step in forming the Burlington
Amateur Radio Club. A second session was held later in the month and it was
decided that Burlington Amateur Radio Club, aka B.A.R.C, should be the official
Club name.

Ontario
Hamfest
The Ontario Hamfest was started
and named by Frank Walker, VE3EEL (SK) and Bob Fugard, VE3DUF.
The Radio Society of Ontario (R.S.O.), advertised for a
group to take over the existing C.J. Picnic. The task was accepted by
members of the newly formed Burlington Amateur Radio Club.
Early Hamfests were held at the
Steelworkers Park and then Lawson Park on the 11th Concession East in
East Flamborough (now Hamilton). The majority of Ontario Hamfest events
have been held at the present location, The Milton Agricultural
Fairgrounds, Milton, Ontario. For a couple years, the Hamfests were held at the
Burlington Central Arena but has since returned to the Milton
Agricultural and Fairgrounds.
