BARC Repeaters

  The Burlington Amateur Radio Club owns and maintains three repeaters. They are located at our site on the Niagara Escarpment, overlooking Burlington, The G.T.A., Hamilton and much of the Niagara Region.

All repeaters are open for use to all licensed amateur radio operator

The site is owned by the Province of Ontario but management duties are the responsibility of the Region of Halton. The BARC has a long term agreement with the Region for the use of the site. The Club is partnered with the Region of Halton, Emergency Planning Committee in conjunction with the BARC ARES group.

The site is also adjacent to the Bruce (hiking) Trail (Bruce Trail Association), along
Ontario's Niagara Escarpment - A World Biosphere Reserve (The Niagara Escarpment Commission).

 
     
  The site is supplied with commercial hydro and has sufficient battery backup to operate for several days at the normal duty cycle.

    Note: the VHF repeater is linked with the Node 2680 on the IRLP system and Node 417869 on the ECHOLINK system. Both systems are open to all licensed Amateur Radio users. Normal IRLP and ECHOLINK access protocols are in effect.

  The 6m repeater is owned by Club members, Brian Summers, VE3DUO and Dave Gale, VE3DSI. The receiver is located at a site on the west Hamilton mountain and linked to the BARC repeater site where the transmitter and controller are located.

S.O.R.T. is located in London, Ontario, Canada, and specializes in VHF & UHF amateur radio communications. They maintain 5 repeaters in southern Ontario, providing links between their repeater system, and others to the east via the Escarpment Repeater Association link system.
